No More Plastic Bags
Dear Friends around Odense and in Denmark,
This
is a plastic bag free 'plan' that we are attempting to implement.
Whether it works or not is still to be seen but we would like to
recommend it for all concerned people, and that means ourselves, you
and our/your friends, groups, and networks. We are all aware (or
should be aware) of the destructive nature of plastic bags and how
long it takes plastic bags to fully decompose in the earth, and during
this decomposition time these bags are of course poisoning the
planet - earth, water, air, animal, aquatic and of course
human. Our 5-member household decided (in one day) to no longer use
plastic bags and to only use paper or cotton/material bags (Organic
and/or fair trade cotton/hemp/other-type material bags are now
available in most countries). We also no longer accept plastic bags
when we go shopping (In other words we always take paper/material
bags with us on any shopping venture, so these bags should be stored
in appropriate places so as not to be forgotten when going
shopping).
The
'plan' is to take a maximum of three months to implement this
plastic bag free 'plan' in ones [individual/couple/family/group/community]
household. Its actually quite simple and easy. Make a full committed
declaration to implement this plan within a maximum of three months
(or sooner - it could in one day) and this is the way we can all
become plastic bag free households. If you want to use this article/ad
to send on to your friends/family /networks please go ahead (and of
course change it accordingly). Encourage those you send it to
to send it on so in this way we can all become plastic bag free
households
If
we do not demonstrate what we 'talk about' what is the use of all
the eco-talk. Lets do it..
A
Three Month Plan
To
become a Plastic Bag Free City in Odense
We
are all aware of how disastrous plastic bags are for the planet and
yet we still use them in this 'eco-community' and many 'eco-conscious'
people still use them in their households. Plastic bags take a great
deal of time to fully decompose and they poison the earth, the
waters, the air, the animal and aquatic kingdoms and of course
humans. So lets get rid of them and become a plastic bag free city.
We
decided to do this and in one day we became a plastic free household.
We no longer use plastic bags and we no longer accept plastic bags
from any shops. We only use paper or cotton/material bags. If we can
do it in one day this community can do it in a maximum of three
months. So we are asking everyone in this community (individuals,
couples, families, households, departments, groups and businesses)
to make a commitment to become plastic bag free within three months
or sooner (or even sooner). This means that within three months (by
end June) the City can declare itself to be plastic bag free, and
thus become a demonstration point for living ecology.
Let's do it. It's easy. Let's just say 'Yes we can' " Yes we can" and do it and we can all be proud of making this important demonstration.
